1.2738 Plastic Mould Steel

1.2738 is a plastic mould tool steel mainly used for plastic injection mould dies. It can be seen as an improved version of alloy 1.2311 with a nickel content of 1%, which has a positive effect on hardenability. The steel is machinable, polishable and suitable for texturing. Welding is somewhat difficult but possible.

With a 400 mm thickness limit, it is often used in the construction of plastic moulds of any type, in the construction of television panels, in the construction of automobile bumpers, in the construction of musical instruments, in the construction of large-bodied plastic parts and in the bearers of metal injection moulds.
