1.2842 Cold Work Tool Steel

1.2842 cold work tool steel offers the characteristics of high hardenability, high hardness, wear resistance and high cutting edge sharpness. The grade is not susceptible to deformation during heat treatment, showing high regularity of dimensional changes and high durability of the blade.

It does not tolerate overheating well, which is associated with low resistance to tempering. The steel is used in the manufacture of precision instruments and products such as measuring plates, punching dies, wood cutters, drafts, hand reamers, cutting plates, disc blades, paper, tobacco and leather cutting blades, tooth cutting jaws, shafts, gauges, micrometer screws, etc.
