Silver Steel

Mercury Steel shows low hardenability, high sensitivity to overheating, low tendency to crack when hardened in water, high wear resistance and good cutting properties.

It is also characterised by low resistance to annealing. It is a material used in the manufacture of cutters, drills, circular saws for metal cutting, reamers, cutting tools for wood, paper, tobacco and rubber.

It is also used in the production of moulds, thread cutters, drills, circular knives, jaws for cutting teeth and nails, engraving tools, bimetal knives and countersinks.
